A different kind of accomodation

Just the thought of having to arrange anything to do with real estate is enough to make many people close their eyes, put their fingers in their ears, and sing 'la la la' until the idea goes away again. Looking for an apartment, a roommate, or a tenant can be a stressful and drawn-out process for anyone, let alone someone who doesn't know exactly what to look for, or someone who doesn't understand the language. Realtor lingo can be confusing for many people, and sometimes it feels like you need to do an English translation just to understand what all the abbreviations mean.

If you are looking for accommodation, and are having trouble with the notices yourself, you may be able to get a friend to do a quick Italian translation, or maybe just convert the jargon into plain English. It will save you having to ask questions that were already discussed in the ad, and if something is immediately not what you want (for example, an electric cooktop when you want gas), you won't need to make the call at all. If it's relevant, a translation early on in your investigations can actually save you a lot of time in the long run.

Imagine if you were a recent immigrant to the country, and spoke a little English but not enough to decipher the classified section of the local newspaper. Everyone needs a place to live, so it's a little unfair if someone has to get a professional Chinese translation just to read your advertisement. It may be worth paying that little bit extra for a few clarifying characters. The little investment can make a big difference by making your advertisement both stand out from the rest, and appeal to a wider audience by being easier to interpret. If people don't need to get an Arabic translation service to help them understand what you have on offer, then they will be much more likely to pick up the phone. All this means that you will hopefully find the right person sooner. Clear and concise is always better than convoluted and confusing!
